Overview
Tap water isn't reef-safe straight out of the wall - it carries chlorine, chloramine, silicates, phosphates and dissolved metals that can fuel algae and stress livestock. The Reef Pure RO 5 Stage RODI System strips all of that out, producing 0 TDS water that's safe to mix salt into or use for top-up.
Running your own RODI unit at home means consistent, reliable water quality on tap, rather than relying on pre-mixed water of unknown age or storage history.

Setup & tips
- Flush a new unit for 20-30 minutes before collecting water for the first time
- Check your DI resin colour-change indicator (if fitted) regularly, and keep a spare cartridge on hand
- Sediment and carbon stages need replacing well before the membrane does - don't wait until output TDS creeps up
- Store finished RODI water in a sealed container to keep it free of dust and airborne contaminants
