Overview

Two Little Fishies Kalkwasser is a calcium hydroxide powder used to supplement calcium and alkalinity in reef tanks via the traditional kalkwasser dosing method, typically added through auto top-off or a dedicated kalk reactor.

Kalkwasser is a time-tested way to replace evaporated water while simultaneously topping up calcium and alkalinity, making it a particularly efficient dosing method for tanks with a reliable ATO.

Key features

Calcium hydroxide powder for kalkwasser dosing
Supplements both calcium and alkalinity simultaneously
Well suited to pairing with an auto top-off system or kalk reactor

Who it's for

Reef tanks running (or considering) kalkwasser dosing as part of their calcium and alkalinity supplementation strategy.

Setup & tips

Mix fresh solution regularly rather than storing large batches for extended periods
Dose via a reliable auto top-off system for the most consistent results
Increase dosing gradually and monitor pH, as kalkwasser raises pH as well as alkalinity and calcium
Keep the mixing container sealed, as kalkwasser reacts with airborne CO2
