Overview

The Vectra S2 is the smallest pump in EcoTech Marine's DC lineup — 5,300 lph flat out, 3.5 m of head pressure, and everything in between available on a dial or from your phone. It fixes the classic small-system problem: an AC pump that's either too much or not enough, choked back with a gate valve that wastes power and adds heat for no good reason.

Like the rest of the second-generation Vectras, the S2 gets revised input and output couplers designed around standard PVC, a new base, a tougher motor sleeve, improved thermal management and more ergonomic collars. Quiet, controllable, and small enough to fit in a sump that isn't the size of a bathtub.

Key features
  • Fully adjustable DC flow — up to 5,300 lph, dialled down to suit your overflow without a restricting valve and without wasting electricity.
  • Mobius app included — wireless is built in, and the free Mobius app (iOS and Android) handles schedules, mode changes, status updates and firmware.
  • Auto-calibration — the S2 can calibrate itself to your system, which prevents back-siphoning if the pump is turned down and gives a proper neutral flow condition in Feed Mode.
  • Feed Mode and Speed Lock — pause flow at the touch of a button while you feed, then lock the dial so your settings stay where you put them.
  • Closed-loop modes on board — Lagoonal Random, Reef Crest Random and Gyre are all available if you run the S2 as a closed loop instead of a return.
  • QuickCouple fittings and a rotating volute — rotate the outlet to suit your plumbing, and lift the pump out for a clean without cutting pipe.
  • British Standard Pipe threading — plays nicely with Australian plumbing supplies.
  • Battery Backup compatible — the EcoTech Battery Backup keeps water moving through an outage. For return pump duty you'll also want the Vectra Battery Backup Booster.
  • ReefLink and EcoSmart compatible — sits alongside VorTech pumps and Radion lighting in the wider EcoTech ecosystem.
What's in the box
  • Vectra S2 DC pump with integrated wireless
  • 96 W power supply and controller

The S2 Barb and Screen Kit is sold separately if you'd rather run flexible hose or need an intake screen.

Who it's for

The S2 suits nano and mid-sized sumped reefs — think an all-in-one with a sump conversion, a three or four foot display, or a frag system where a small footprint matters. The 98 x 165 mm base is genuinely compact, which counts for a lot when your sump also has to house a skimmer and a media reactor.

Take note of the head pressure, though: at 3.5 m the S2 has less lift in reserve than its bigger siblings. If your return has to climb a tall stand, feed a manifold, or run a long horizontal stretch with several elbows, step up to the M2 rather than asking the S2 to work at the top of its curve all day.

Setup & tips
  • Do the head-loss maths before you buy. Vertical rise plus fittings eats into that 3.5 m quickly — count your elbows honestly and leave yourself margin.
  • Run auto-calibration once the plumbing is finished. It's what makes Feed Mode behave and it's your protection against back-siphoning at reduced speed.
  • Keep the intake side generous. The inlet is 25 mm and the outlet 19 mm — restriction before the pump costs you far more than anything after it.
  • Set Speed Lock once you're dialled in. Find your turnover, lock the dial, and the sump stays where it should even if curious fingers find the controller.

Dry goods ship Australia-wide. If you're unsure whether the S2 has enough lift for your setup, give us a call with your rise and pipe run — we'd rather size it right than sell you a pump that spends its life maxed out.
