Overview
The Hydra Edge 44HD HMS Adaptor lets you mount AquaIllumination's Hydra Edge 44HD on the existing Hydra Mounting System (HMS). That includes the HMS Single Arm tank mount, as well as AI's multi-arm, rail and hybrid setups.
Because the Hydra Edge has a different body shape and pivoting design from the earlier Hydra 32HD and 64HD, it won't bolt straight onto HMS hardware. This kit bridges that gap with dedicated top and rear "C" brackets. If you already own an HMS arm, or prefer AI's solid tank-mount system to a flex arm or hanging kit, this is the piece that makes it work.
Key features
- Made for the Edge 44HD: purpose-built brackets that match the 44HD's housing and edge mounting points.
- Rear-mount bracket: attaches to the HMS Single Arm Kit, with angle adjustment so you can fine-tune how the light sits over the tank.
- Top-mount bracket: secures to the HMS Single Arm or HMS Rail, giving you flexible positioning to optimise coverage and cut down on light spill.
- Both options in one kit: choose rear or top mounting to suit your tank layout, without needing to buy a second adaptor.
- Works across the HMS range: compatible with the single tank mount, multi-arm, suspended rail and hybrid configurations.
What's in the box
- Top-mount "C" bracket for the Hydra Edge 44HD
- Rear-mount "C" bracket for the Hydra Edge 44HD
- Adaptor mounting hardware
Please note: the light and the HMS Single Arm Kit are sold separately.
Who it's for
This adaptor is for reef keepers running a Hydra Edge 44HD who want to mount it on AI's HMS hardware, for example:
- Upgraders: moving from a Hydra 32HD to the Edge 44HD and wanting to reuse an HMS Single Arm already on the tank.
- Rigid-mount fans: keepers who prefer a fixed tank-mounted arm over a gooseneck flex arm or ceiling hanging kit.
- Planners: anyone who might expand later, since the same brackets also suit HMS rail and multi-light setups.
Running the larger Hydra Edge 68HD? You'll need the 68HD-specific adaptor instead, as this kit is sized for the 44HD only.
Setup & tips
- Choose top or rear mount first: top mounting sits the light neatly under the arm, while rear mounting gives you more angle adjustment. Pick the one that suits your tank and aquascape before you start fitting.
- Check your complete kit list: for a single light on the tank, you'll need the Edge 44HD, this adaptor and the HMS Single Arm Kit.
- Level it before you tighten: set the fixture level and centred over your main coral area, then tighten everything down fully.
- Keep cabling tidy: run the power lead neatly along the arm, and leave a drip loop below the power point so any water runs off before reaching the plug.
